CHARLIE SHEEN ASSAILS TWO AND A HALF MEN

Yep, things between Two And A Half Men star Charlie Sheen and creator Chuck Lorre just got a lot worse. Following his verbal assault on Lorre, whom he calls by his "real name Chaim Levine", in a radio interview this morning, Sheen went way further in a TMZ  this afternoon. "I violently hate Haim Levine," Sheen said in what is probably the harshest statement by a series star about their showrunner. "He's a stupid, stupid little man and a p**sy punk that I'd never want to be like. That's me being polite. That piece of s**t took money out of my pocket, my family's pocket, and, most importantly, my second family -- my crew's pocket... You can tell him one thing.  I own him." He proceeded to challenge Lorre to a fight. "If he wins, then he can leave MY show, Sheen said.
When we thought Charlie Sheen's planned reunion with the cast and crew of Two and a Half Men next week could not get more awkward, it just did. In another surreal, rambling live radio interview, this time on the Alex Jones Show, Sheen unleashed a tirade at Men creator-executive producer Chuck Lorre over Lorre's recent tongue-in-cheek vanity card at the conclusion of the show's most recent original that ended with "If Charlie Sheen outlives me, I'm gonna be really pissed."

Seven Wonders Of the Ancient World

The list of seven wonders of the world, has always been a great amusement for all of us, as it was an insight of all the unusual and unique natural and man made structures around the world. This list had been changed and a set of new seven wonders of the world was declared but was this kind of list also present in the ancient times? Research has proved that infact it did, in the ancient Greek.

A new research has now found out the list of 'The Seven Wonders Of The Ancient World'. Reportedly, the Greek took great marvel in rating any structure which was made. As the number seven has religious connotation in Greek culture that number was taken to rank the best creation. Thus, the 'Seven Wonders Of The Ancient World' was not listed at the same time. The creations were listed as and when they were created. There was actually no one list of the wonders. Their were different lists compiled by any Greek writers out of which Antipater of Sidon, and Philon of Byzantium, made the best list. The list which has been recognized was created in the 2nd century BC by Antipater of Sidon.

Hawaii earthquake jolts

A small earthquake has hit Hawaii, with a jolt felt across Honolulu.

The U.S. Geological Survey says the magnitude 3.6 temblor struck at 2:12 p.m. on Thursday in between the islands of Oahu and Molokai.

There were no immediate reports of injuries or damage. No tsunami was generated.

Cristin Milioti Shines on '30 Rock': Season

Liz hired a new female writer because people were saying that 'TGS hates women,' and Jack tried to please Kabletown chief Hank Hooper's granddaughter since she might one day inherit the network. These aren't the most original plots the show has had -- they've had plots in the past that were very similar to these -- but they were both deeply satisfying tonight.

There are two reasons why the Abby Flynn plot worked. Oh, get your mind out of the gutter! I'm talking about the two different personalities that Cristin Milloti showed: Abby the buxom blonde with the baby voice and Abby the alternative comic with the razor wit. This was a great performance with a clever ending: Abby won't be sticking around because she has to come up with a new identity because Liz blew her older one. But God, how was Liz supposed to know that? Give her a break.

Speaking of great performances, Chloe Moretz's job as Hooper's granddaughter Kaley was truly kick-ass, and I'm not just saying that to reference the movie because I haven't seen it. She's like Don Geiss' daughter Kathy, only she can speak, she's smart and has just as many clever plans to control Kabletown/NBC as Jack does. It's as if Jack has to always battle someone to get ahead at NBC, whether it's Kathy, Devon Banks, or someone else.

Jeremy Shockey Released, Ending Three-Year Run With Saints

New Orleans on Monday released tight end Jeremy Shockey, who scored a fourth-quarter touchdown that gave the Saints the lead for good in their 2010 Super Bowl victory against Indianapolis.
The Saints acquired Shockey from the New York Giants before the 2008 season. In three seasons in New Orleans, he caught 139 passes for 1,460 yards with six touchdowns in 38 regular-season games. Shockey, 30, had 41 receptions for 408 yards and three touchdowns in 13 games last season. His reception and yardage numbers were the lowest in his nine-year career.
"Jeremy played an important role in helping our team bring a Super Bowl championship to New Orleans," coach Sean Payton said in a statement. "We're appreciative of his efforts."

Destiny - Buju Banton found guilty - Sentencing date to be determined

The jury, which included three African-American women, yesterday returned a guilty verdict for three of the four charges brought against the Grammy-winning artiste, whose real name is Mark Myrie.
The iconic Jamaican artiste, whose sentencing hearing date has not yet been determined, will now face 15 years to life behind bars.
Buju has been found guilty of conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute five kilogramsor more of a mixture and substance containing a detectable amount of cocaine, knowingly and intentionally possessing a firearm in furtherance of and during the course of a drug-trafficking crime, and aiding and abetting others in using a communication facility in the commission of a felony.
The jury, however, returned a not-guilty verdict for attempting to possess five kilograms or more of cocaine.
Defence attorney David Oscar Markus, who, in closing arguments last week, begged the jury to return a not-guilty verdict, was a broken man when he descended the steps of the Sam M. Gibbons Building which houses the United States Middle District Court, Florida Division, in Tampa.
"We are all very upset and disappointed and emotional. The only person who seems to be OK is Buju. We just saw him in the lock-up and he told us that he was happy that he fought, knowing that he is innocent," Markus said.

Tulsa Shock re-signs Jones to multi-year deal

Officials with the WNBA franchise didn't immediately return a call Wednesday seeking details of the contract.
Jones earned her first start of the 2010 season in the final regular season game, scoring a career-high 14 points. She played in all 34 regular season games, averaging 3.4 points on 52.5 percent shooting and 1.5 rebounds in 9.4 minutes per game.
Jones is best known for winning five medals as a track sprinter at the 2000 Sydney Olympics, and later for having the medals taken away because of steroid use.
She won a national championship in 1994 as the point guard for North Carolina's t

Chicago's next mayor: Emanuel

a top adviser to two U.S. presidents who returned to Chicago just months ago, swept into the mayor's office Tuesday, inheriting a city reeling from recession and promising to reshape City Hall.

He achieved what was once considered almost unthinkable, collecting a majority of support against five opponents in the first Chicago election without a sitting mayor on the ballot since 1947.

In a city with its share of racial divisions, Emanuel appealed to voters across those lines. He won the predominantly white wards of his former congressional district on the North and Northwest sides. And the former chief of staff to also scored substantial margins in predominantly African-American neighborhoods.

"All I can say, you sure know how to make a guy feel at home," Emanuel, who faced a high-profile legal challenge to his residency, told a packed room at a plumbers union hall on the Near West Side. "Because of the people of Chicago, this is the warmest place in America."

chicago-election-results

The City Council was sure to see some serious upheaval this election cycle, and the competitiveness of the fights for alderman is showing in tonight’s results: fourteen of the 50 wards appear set to head to runoffs on April 5.
There are still around fifty precincts still waiting to report around the city, but races around Chicago are yet to be determined. And many incumbent aldermen will be facing heated competition in those races six weeks from now.
Ald. Freddrenna Lyle in the 6th Ward will be facing off with Roderick T. Sawyer, son of former mayor Eugene Sawyer. In the 50th, Bernie Stone, the council’s oldest alderman, won only 37 percent of the vote in his five-person race, and will have to take on feisty challenger Debra L. Silverstein, who came in second with 33 percent.
A couple of very crowded races will be significantly narrowed down. The race to replace Helen Shiller in the 46th had eleven candidates on the ballot — James Cappleman and Molly Phelan both won just shy of twenty percent, and will compete for the sixty percent of the vote their nine other candidates split in today’s vote. And in the 24th Ward, incumbent Sharon Denise Dixon and challenger Michael D. Chandler emerged from a field of 18 candidates, the least among whom won only 37 votes.
And as mentioned earlier in the night, Che “Rhymefest” Smith is headed for a runoff with incumbent Willie Cochran in the 20th. Rey Colon narrowly avoided a runoff in the 35th Ward, and Ameya Pawar pulled off the upset win in the 47th, beating Tom O’Donnell without requiring a runoff.

The February 22nd episode saw Jason provide an opportunity for Pil Sook to appear on broadcast. On their way home, Jason suggested that she delete the photos of her former chubby self, to which she replied, “Those were my happiest days.”
He responded, “Well, there is one other person who loved those days as well.” Jason took out his cel fone and flashed a photo of her from when she was 82kg to prove his point.
Touched, the two exchanged intense gazes before Pil Sook closed her eyes, expecting a kiss. Feeling playful, Jason decided to stretch out and give her a kiss instead. He teased, “Why are you closing your eyes?  Did you expect something?“  Pil Sook gloomily retorted, “I didn’t expect anything!”
Jason then gave her a light peck on the forehead, which inspired Pil Sook to wrap her arms around his neck and tiptoeing, pull him down for a kiss.
Netizens commented, “Not showing the actual kiss scene was a lot more romantic,” “I want IU’s tip-toe kiss too!”, and “The hearts of her uncle fans have been demolished!”

Chauncey Billups: The Elephant In The Room, Will He Be a Knick?

Chauncey Billups' agent made it clear when the trade rumors began to swirl, that Billups was only interested in playing for the denever nuggets. It has been made public that he is only interested in playing for the Nuggets.
By saying this, it was assumed that he would want a buyout, or at least try to get bought out.
However, we have not heard a statement recently from Billups or his agent regarding Billups' thoughts on joining a new team. Is he still only interested in playing for the Denver Nuggets? Based on reports, Carmelo is the only person involved in the trade that has met with kiniks management, Carmelo obviously gave his word to the Knicks, but Billups has not spoken on the situation.

New Zealand Earthquake Kills 65

New Zealand's prime minister says at least 65 people are dead in an earthquake that struck the city of Christchurch, collapsing numerous buildings as people worked inside.

Prime Minister John Key said the 6.3-magnitude quake, which struck around lunchtime Tuesday, is "an absolute tragedy" for the city and its people.

Police reported fatalities in several parts of the city and numerous injuries.  They say two buses were crushed by falling buildings.

Many buildings in the city center collapsed, and Christchurch cathedral was heavily damaged.  Power and telephone lines are cut in some places.  Some roads caved in and at least one bridge has been damaged.

Thousands of people have fled buildings and gathered in the streets of Christchurch as the city is now being hit by a series of aftershocks.

Flights in and out of Christchurch were temporarily cancelled.

The U.S. Geological Survey said the quake was centered about 5 kilometers from the city at a depth of 4 kilometers.

Carmelo Anthony is headed to Knicks for a huge part of the Big Apple

The wait is finally over: Carmelo Anthony now plays for the New York Knicks. Not very many other people play for the New York Knicks anymore, but now he does.
The Denver Post had the news first   so we can forgive them, since it's not that late out there yet.
The Knicks apparently spent all day deciding whether or not to include Timofey Mozgov in the deal. Not surprisingly, considering how eager the team suddenly became to get 'Melo over the weekend, they caved. The parameters are what thought they were this were morning

Rick Santorum and Sarah Palin

This was confirmed to me at The Four Season’s bar here in Washington, by a cousin of Santorum’s. ”Oh, yes, he’s running,” she said. This former senator is currently practicing law at Eckert Seamans Cherin & Mellott, LLC in Pennsylvania and is father to no fewer than seven children. (Now, that would make for a full White House…)
Santorum is a devout Catholic and is known for his rather over-enthusiastic (in my view) and borderline belligerent stances against abortion and homosexuality. To say that he is a social conservative’s dream is an understatement. In fact, Santorum’s comments and statements over the years on gay marriage and a woman’s right to choose make me personally uncomfortable, but that’s another blog.
Remember, these are posts about who I believe is running for president in 2012 and who is not, and they’re based on what I’ve read and/or what has been imparted to me by a trusted inside source or two. I reserve the right to change my mind and correct my predictions, but I’m trying to get it right the first time.

THE magnificent ciely tyson

Cicely Tyson is one class act. The actress has brought dignity and strength to many of the characters she's portrayed over the years not limited to the 1977 TV miniseries Roots and the 1972 powerful film, Sounder. Two more TV movies, 1974's The Autobiography of Miss Jane Pittman and 1977's Wilma, both had a very powerful effect on me when I watched them when they first aired. Tyson has helped to influence the roles of African-American women in film and television away from predominantly stereotypical background characters to influential history-makers and strong women at the story's center. This is also true for Tyson's role as the central character in the 1997 made-for-TV movie, Ms. Scrooge. Here, Ebenita Scrooge is a successful banker who loves Christmas because people always over-spend and over-borrow money and she makes a profit from this. In a re-telling of Charles Dickens' classic tale, Scrooge is visited by her former boss Maude Marley (played by Katherine Helmond) who warns her about her greed

Carmelo Anthony's Knicks Jersey Number Won't Be 15

is New York bound after the  and finalized  on Monday evening. Once in New York, however, Anthony will have to find a new jersey. The No. 15 he wore in his time with the Nuggets was retired by the Knicks, honoring Dick McGuire, elected to the Knicks Hall of Fame in 1993.
We've seen of  already, but what other options does he have. In high school, Anthony wore No. 22. Unfortunately, that number, worn by Dave DeBusschere, was also retired by the Knicks in 1983. Seeing as how 22 and 15 were the only two numbers he wore -- 22 in high school, 15 at Syracuse and in Denver -- it looks like Anthony will be branching out when he gets to New York.
Luckily, with almost at least Anthony will have his pick of available numbers without having to fight a returning veteran.

Carmelo Anthony Trade Reportedly Includes Corey Brewer Heading To Knicks From Timberwolves

The Minnesota Timberwolves are the third team in the deal, jumping into the fold to take Eddy Curry and Anthony Randolph. Anthony, Chauncey Billups, Shelden Williams, Anthony Carter and Renaldo Balkman are headed to New York with Danilo Gallinari, Wilson Chandler, and Raymond Felton heading to Denver.
Yahoo! Sports reported the rest of the deal, which includes draft picks and cash heading from New York to Denver and the Timberwolves taking two players, as well.

CULT MOVIE REVIEW: Paranormal Activity

But while penning the sequel, Halloween 2 (1981), the writers (including JC) came up with the very specific notion that Laurie Strode was actually Michael Myers' sister and that the Shape kept returning to Haddonfield to finish the job of murdering siblings that he had begun in 1963.

Although interesting, this new idea eliminated much of the deliberate ambiguity about the Bogeyman and even, in a way, made Halloween retroactively a bit less scary.  Suddenly, Michael was just offing family members.  Sisters, then nieces, apparently.   With the nebulous Shape's raison d'etre known, he was no longer a scintillating mystery.  He became a known and quantifiable factor instead.  We knew his goal; we knew his endgame.  He became...predictable.

Minn. officials warn of slippery roads

- The worst of the weekend storm is over, but Minnesota officials are still cautioning drivers to slow down on slippery roadways and avoid driving into piles of snow.
Minnesota Department of Transportation spokesman Kevin Gutknecht says travel conditions throughout the southern half of the state are considered difficult, but passable.
He says the snowplows have cleared most road state roads, but drivers need to watch out for piled snow, particularly at entrance ramps.
State Patrol Lt. Eric Roeske says Monday was very busy, with many people driving too fast for the conditions and losing control. He says dispatchers rated the volume of calls a seven out of 10.
The National Weather Service is predicting another 1 to 3 inches of snow will fall Monday on east-central and southeast Minnesota.

Consumers estimates 1,750 customers in Allegan County are without power, 100 in Barry, 9,400 in Branch, 9,650 in Calhoun, 39,750 in Kalamazoo, 3,880 in St. Joseph and 1,500 in Van Buren.

Presidents Day: A Time to Remember the Greats

Presidents Day is ostensibly a time to celebrate the great men who helped shape the nation.
It’s an oddly named holiday, if for no other reason than few would hold the presidents with equal reverence.  Once upon a time, we celebrated the birthdays of Washington and Lincoln separately, an honor befitting their outsized legacies. It’s universally accepted that their accomplishments merit unequal treatment in that regard.
It was Richard Nixon, of all people, who decided to replace Washington’s and Lincoln’s birthdays for the more generic Presidents Day, which takes place on the third Monday in February.  The intent was to pay respect to all the previous office holders, though the unintended consequence has been just the opposite.  For younger generations, the holiday represents little more than a chance to score some deals at the local mall; it’s doubtful that shoppers are giving thought to our greatest presidents as they troll the discount bins.
And that’s a shame.  Presidents Day should be a chance for Americans to reconnect with the past — both distant and near — and the giants of the office who transformed the country.  There’s certainly no shortage of men and moments to appreciate.

Post offices closed, no mail today in observance of Presidents Day

Today is Presidents Day, and if you're like many people this morning you're wondering what that means for your mailbox (at the time of this writing, Google Trends ranks the phrases "are banks open on presidents day," "is the post office open on presidents day 2011," "is presidents day a federal holiday" and "usps holidays 2011" as among their Top 10 searches).

Here are your answers, in one convenient paragraph:

Will mail be delivered today? No. Will the post office be open? No. Will your bank be open? Maybe, but maybe not, depending on the bank (it's best to call ahead or check your bank's website before heading out, especially on a day with weather like today's).

Chattahoochee Technical College

Chattahoochee Technical College has 8 different locations that you can go to but instead of going to one of the brick and mortar buildings to register people are flooding the site. There were many students that reported the site not working for them as they tried to register. If you are looking for online education classes then you can get them here as well. Do not worry because the Chattahoochee Technical College website will be back to normal as soon as the registration craze is over.
This school has great accredited online education but is also great if you actually want to go to class. Sometimes I wonder if an actual classroom is going to be a thing of the past soon. Hopefully not because many students still enjoy learning face to face. Chattahoochee Technical College is a great place to learn but hopefully they speed their site up soon.

Presidents Day 2011: Are Banks Open on Presidents Day

Ah so that is the problem, it’s a holiday! This leads many people to the question Are banks open on presidents day?
If you are asking “Are banks open on presidents day?” I am going to have to say that’s most likely a no. If you need money badly enough you may want to go to a payday advance place since they rarely ever close. I know this isn’t what you wanted to hear when you asked “Are banks open on Presidents Day?”
Instead of getting a payday advance I would suggest that you use your lowest interest visa card or other credit card. Payday advance stores will charge you up to 300% interest if you do not pay them back quickly. I understand that you do not like it when the banks are closed. I wish I would have asked “Are banks open on presidents day?” before I went out and started trying to pay bills.

Ministers ‘too cosy with the alcohol trade’ as doctors warn extra 250,000 lives are at risk from liver disease Read more: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/health/article-1359008/MPs-cosy-alcohol-trade-Doctors-warn-extra-250k-lives-risk-liver-disease.html#ixzz1EbDH50mM

group of leading doctors will today brand ministers’ strategy for tackling Britain’s booze culture ‘inconsequential’ and blame ministers for being ‘too close’ to the drinks industry.
The liver disease specialists claim up to 250,000 extra lives could be lost in the next 20 years if the Government fails to introduce proper minimum pricing for alcohol.

TV WATCHERS: Mack Trucks CEO told to "slow down" on CBS's "Undercover Boss"

The show follows Denny, sporting a scruffy beard and moustache for his disguise as new hire "Roger" sheds his suit for a black Mack Trucks T-shirt and baseball cap as he goes undercover as a line-worker. Two Lower Macungie employees - Jeff Manty and Allan Iezzi - are featured in the show as they work alongside Denny.
Denny also works behind the scenes at the Hagerstown, Md., plant that produces all of Mack Trucks’ engines and the Baltimore, Md., distribution center that provides parts to Mack dealers and customers. During the course of the show, he discovers that rumors are rampant among employees that Mack Trucks is moving its operations to Mexico.
Mack Trucks, which moved its headquarters from Allentown to Greensboro, N.C. in 2009, is the second largest manufacturer of heavy-duty trucks in the world.
Slagle, 56, took over as Mack Trucks CEO in 2008. Before that he was the CEO of Volvo Construction Equipment North America in Asheville, N.C.

Mack Trucks' CEO Denny Slagle Featured On CBS' Undercover Boss

It started with an April Fools' Day email he ignored at first, but later decided it was worth a shot.
Slagle said he tried to disguise his voice, but was worried because of all of the production going into the nationally-broadcasted show.
"I had to come out of disguise for half a day, deliver a power point presentation and get back on the place and go back undercover," Slagle said.
One of Slagle's undercover jobs was to work on the factory line. He admits he wasn't a good factory worker, but doesn't mind having a good laugh at his expense.
He said he is a better manager after his undercover experience and learned much more about his company.
"The show gave me a very deep understanding of what we do not only affects the employee and their families, but also affects their community," Slagle said in reference to his company's products being made in the USA.
He learned his drive for business from his father, a World War II POW, who marched back home after the war and built his own small business from nothing.
"I'd like to see the country continue to be the type of country that offers opportunities to people where ever you come from in life."
Slagle said his experience refined his personal mission -- to honor his past, take care of his present and plan well for the future.
Slagle was named CEO in April 2008 while the company headquarters was still based in Allentown, PA. The headquarters was moved to Greensboro in September 2009, bringing Slagle back to his roots. He grew up in western North Carolina where he met his wife, Karen, in the 7th grade.

Scott story will bring mix of emotions

It told how many white fans and drivers supported him in a time when the country was in upheaval over the civil rights movement.
"If it had not been for white people, we would not have had our career," Wendell Scott Jr. said after the film.
One of the more dramatic moments was a shot of Scott alone, in the dark, in Victory Lane long after most had left the Jacksonville track. There are tears running down his face as the track owner and a NASCAR official admit there was a scoring error and give him the first-place prize money.
When Scott asks about the trophy, he is told in a less than respectful tone it is long gone with Baker.
The film ends with the track finally returning the trophy -- albeit a duplicate and not the original that Scott deserved -- to the family of its rightful owner last October. It ends with the family, led by Scott's wife Mary, placing it on Wendell's Danville, Va., grave.
Forty-seven years later.
Another reminder of how slow diversity growth has been.

Female comics becoming a force to be reckoned with

Being a female comic is no joke.
"It is an aggressive, masculine business," says Linda Mizejewski, a professor of women's studies at Ohio State University.
About 80 percent of all comics are men, Mizejewski notes, but female comics are becoming more mainstream.
Mizejewski will talk about the rise of female comedians at the 2011 Friends of Women's Studies Annual Dinner at Old Dominion University on Feb. 28.
Mizejewski said that the industry long was resistant to funny women, but that belief has been turned upside down by the success of Joan Rivers, Tina Fey, Wanda Sykes, Ellen DeGeneres and others.
Mizejewski, who taught at ODU in the late 1970s, is writing a book about female comics. She argues that the ascent of women in comedy is a framework for understanding how ideas about women and their roles have changed in society.
Comedy is an arena where traditional ideas about how women should look, act and behave have been challenged.
While women in show business are expected to be attractive, Mizejewski said that good looks aren't always an advantage for those trying to make others laugh.

Mark Jackson's brother dies at 35

Troy "Escalade" Jackson, the larger-than-life streetball legend and younger brother of former NBA player Mark Jackson, died in his sleep early yesterday morning.
The 6-foot-10, 400-pound Jackson, 35, was in Los Angeles for NBA All-Star Weekend. The cause of death is unknown pending an autopsy.
Jackson, a Jamaica, Queens native, played collegiate basketball at Louisville, but became one of the most famous streetball players of all time with the And 1 Mixtape Tour, a traveling basketball exhibition he joined in 2002. He also traveled for two years with the Harlem Globetrotters and most recently he competed with the Ball Up streetball team.
"He traveled all around the world and touched so many lives," Mark Jackson told The Post from LA. "He will be greatly missed. Thanks for all your thoughts and prayers. God is still good."
Many former and current NBA players like and gave condolences yesterday on their Twitter accounts.
"My heart goes out to Mark Jackson and his family who lost his brother last night, Escalade," O'Neal tweeted. "We lost a great person love u escalade. I'm sad."

Friday evening 16-year-old Brooke Ann Coats was competing in a rodeo in Tampa, Florida.  During the bull-riding competition she was thrown, and the animal kicked her in the chest. She managed to get up and walk out of the arena, but 90 minutes later she was dead.
The images of the vibrant teenage and  news of her senseless death are heartbreaking. I think of her parents who gave her permission to participate in this dangerous sport, and are now going to have to live with their guilt and without  their daughter for the rest of their lives. If there is any good to come from this tragic event it has to be to highlight the real dangers of this cruel and unpredictable sport, and perhaps save others from a similar fate.
Extreme sports are one thing, and I'd never try to intervene if my children wanted to go rock climbing, or sky diving, or try any other sport of endurance, even if there were risks. But rodeos are a whole other "animal" because they involve animals -- animals that are unpredictable and powerful and can potentially kill -- especially when provoked.

A revealing look at Gypsy Rose Lee

(CBSNews)
Gypsy Rose Lee was one of America's legendary entertainers. On this 100th anniversary of her birth, you may wonder just what makes her legacy endure. Rita Braver can explain:

In 1943 she played herself in "Stage Door Canteen."
By then she was famous: The beautiful and brainy stripper who became an international personality.
Above all, she was her own creation. Even her name was invented. She grew up as Rose Louise Hovik.
When asked if she ever explained why she chose the name "Gypsy," her son, Erik Lee Preminger, said, "Her favorite line about this is, 'Darling, I told that story so many different ways, I don't remember which one is truhttp://pzrservices.typepad.com/vintageadvertising/images/2007/04/25/str.'"http://pzrservices.typepad.com/vintageadvertising/images/2007/04/25/stripper_gypsy_rose_lee_smirnoff_ad.jpg

elie tahari

(CBSNews)  One of the featured designers at the recent New York Fashion Week was Elie Tahari, who has come a very long way in his career ... in more ways than one, as Tracy Smith now shows us:

NEW YORK - In the white-hot glare of the fashion world, the clothes take center stage. But the names on the labels can, of course, become famous in their own right: witness Diane von Furstenberg . . . Donna Karan . . . Elie Tahari.
The Tahari name is famous: the face behind it, not so much.
Of the millions who have Elie Tahari hanging in their closets, few probably know that Elie . . . is a HE.
"I was coming down the elevator with somebody that I noticed she bought of Elie Tahari clothes, and I said, 'I see you bought some Elie Tahari.' She said, 'Oh, I love her designs,'" Elie Tahari recalled. "Her design! 'I'm her,' I should have said, yes!"

Daytona 500 Start Time Set for 1:19 PM Today

The Daytona 500 start time is now a matter of hours away. Right now, the Daytona 500 start time is projected to be at 1:19 pm est this afternoon. Of course,
they could go over by a few minutes, given the final buildup and hype for the Great American Race. But that is the case for all major sporting events, especially when it concerns the biggest one for a sport. Once the Daytona 500 start time comes, NASCAR will experience its most important 3-4 hour stretch of the season.

NASCAR is a rare sport where its greatest event takes place at the very beginning of a season. But stock car racing has just under 10 months to make more memories, as it is a slow drive towards the Chase for the Cup.

Slam Dunk Contest 2011 Video: Blake Griffin Dunks Over A Car

For better of for worse, Blake Griffin took home the NBA Slam Dunk Contest in front of a home crowd in Los Angeles. Griffin, with all the hype in the world on his side leading up to the event, threw together some nice dunks, but it was the pageantry involved that allowed him to sneak away from the field and take home the fan vote over Washington's JaVale McGee. In the final round, and on his final dunk, Griffin used a brand new Kia as a prop, jumping over the hood as teammate Baron Davis threw him an alley-oop.
Oh, and there was a choir singing "I Believe I Can Fly" in the background. Check the video out below. Listen closely for Charles Barkley dropping the "if she's pretty but dumb it don't matter" line.

HOLLYWOOD, Calif - Retired Los Angeles homicide Detective Bill Cox says he is haunted by the unsolved murders of Michael Tardio and Chris Monson, two handsome young men who had come to Hollywood to chase their dreams.
"I think about it quite a bit more than I should," Cox says. "In all my 20 years of working homicide, I have never run across a case like this one!"
It's a case that has frustrated police in Hollywood for nearly 8 ý years. Which is why this week, "48 Hours" brings you a very different mystery. There's no trial to see, not even an arrest. But Det. tim richmond

Almost twenty-two years ago, Tim Richmond died. He was 34. Race fans remember Richmond, but even if you don’t, you know him if you’ve seen “Days of Thunder.”
Richmond unfortunately contacted AIDS and took a leave of absence from racing, but would eventually return to the track in 1987. In his first race back, at Pocono, he won. He’d win again the next week in California. But that would be the last time Tim Richmond ever went to victory lane. His Cup career ended with a blown engine at Michigan International Speedway on Aug. 16, 1987.

Subsequently banned from racing by NASCAR because of alleged drug use, Richmond went to Florida to live out what would be his final days. On the morning of Aug. 13, 1989, he called his mother to ask her to come to his hospital room in West Palm Beach, Fla. Before she got there, Richmond died, alone in his room.
